Processional Hymn
263 All creatures of our God and King.
Omit vs 5 & 6 S Francis of Assisi 1182-1226
Tr William Draper 1855-1933
1 All creatures of our God and King,
Lift up your voice and with us sing
Alleluia, Alleluia!
Thou burning sun with golden beam,
Thou silver moon with softer gleam:
Refrain: O praise him, O praise him,
Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia.
2 Thou rushing wind that art so strong,
Ye clouds that sail in heaven along,
O praise him, Alleluia!
Thou rising morn, in praise rejoice,
Ye lights of evening, find a voice:
3 Thou flowing water, pure and clear,
Make music for thy Lord to hear,
Alleluia, Alleluia!
Thou fire so masterful and bright,
That givest man both warmth and light: R.
4 Dear mother earth, who day by day
Unfoldest blessings on our way,
O praise him, Alleluia!
The flowers and fruits that in thee grow,
Let them his glory also show: R.
7 Let all things their Creator bless,
And worship him in humbleness,
O praise him, Alleluia!
Praise, praise the Father, praise the Son,
And praise the Spirit, Three in One: R.
The Greeting
In the name of the + Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
The Lord be with you and also with you.
The Penitential Rite
Lord have mercy. Lord have mercy.
Christ have mercy. Christ have mercy.
Lord have mercy. Lord have mercy.
or
Almighty God, our heavenly Father,
we have sinned against you, and against our neighbour
in thought and word and deed,
through negligence, through weakness, through our own deliberate fault.
We are truly sorry and repent of all our sins.
For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ who died for us,
forgive us all that is past
and grant that we may serve you in newness of life
to the glory of your name. Amen.
Almighty God,
who forgives all who truly repent,
have mercy upon you,
pardon and deliver you from all your sins,
+ confirm and strengthen you in all goodness,
and keep you in life eternal;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
The Collect
Let us pray
Almighty God,
who sent your Holy Spirit
to be the life and light of your Church:
open our hearts to the riches of your grace,
that we may bring forth the fruit of the Spirit
in love and joy and peace;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen.
The Liturgy of the Word
First Reading : 2 Kings 4 : 42 - 44
A man came from Baal-shalishah, bringing Elisha, the man of God, bread from the first-fruits,
twenty barley loaves and fresh grain in the ear.’
‘Give it to the people to eat’, Elisha said.
But his servant replied, ‘How can I serve this to a hundred men?’
‘Give it to the people to eat’ he insisted ‘for the Lord says this,
“They will eat and have some left over.”’
He served them; they ate and had some left over, as the Lord had said.
This is the word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.
Responsorial Psalm: 145
Response: You open wide you hand,
O Lord, and grant our desires.
All your creatures shall thank you, O Lord,
and your friends shall repeat their blessing.
They shall speak of the glory of your reign
and declare your might, O God. R.
The eyes of all creatures look to you
and you give them their food in due time.
You open wide your hand, grant the desire of all who live. R.
The Lord is just in all his ways and loving in all his deeds.
He is close to all who call him,
who call on him from their hearts. R.
Second Reading : Ephesians 4 : 1- 6
I, the prisoner in the Lord, implore you to lead a life worthy of your vocation.
Bear with one another charitably, in complete selflessness, gentleness and patience.
Do all you can to preserve the unity of the Spirit by the peace that binds you together.
There is one Body, one Spirit, just as you were all called into one and the same hope when you were called.
There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and one God who is Father of all,
over all, through all and within all.
This is the word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.
Gospel: Saint John 6 : 1 - 15
Gospel Acclamation
Alleluia, alleluia!
Your words are spirit, Lord, and they are life:
you have the message of eternal life.
Alleluia, alleluia!
The Lord be with you. and also with you.
Hear the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Saint John.
Glory to you, O Lord.
Jesus went off to the other side of the Sea of Galilee – or of Tiberias – and a large crowd followed him,
impressed by the signs he gave by curing the sick. Jesus climbed the hillside, and sat down there with his disciples.
It was shortly before the Jewish feast of Passover.
Looking up, Jesus saw the crowds approaching and said to Philip,
‘Where can we buy some bread for these people to eat?’
He only said this to test Philip; he himself knew exactly what he was going to do.
Philip answered, ‘Two hundred denarii would only buy enough to give them a small piece each.’
One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said,
‘There is a small boy here with five barley loaves and two fish; but what is that between so many?’
Jesus said to them, ‘Make the people sit down.’
There was plenty of grass there, and as many as five thousand men sat down.
Then Jesus took the loaves, gave thanks, and gave them out to all who were sitting ready;
he then did the same with the fish, giving out as much as was wanted.
When they had eaten enough he said to the disciples, ‘Pick up the pieces left over, so that nothing gets wasted.’
So they picked them up, and filled twelve hampers with scraps left over from the meal of five barley loaves.
The people, seeing this sign that he had given, said,
‘This really is the prophet who is to come into the world.’
Jesus, who could see they were about to come and take him by force and make him king,
escaped back to the hills by himself.
At the end of the Gospel
This is the Gospel of The Lord. Praise to you, O Christ.

Offertory Hymn
137 Come down, O Love divine.
Italian, Bianco da Stena d 1434
Tr R F Littledale 1833-90
1 Come down, O Love divine,
Seek thou this soul of mine,
And visit it with thine own ardour glowing;
O Comforter, draw near,
Within my heart appear,
And kindle it, thy holy flame bestowing.
2 O let it freely burn,
Till earthly passions turn
To dust and ashes in its heat consuming;
And let thy glorious light
Shine ever on my sight,
And clothe me round, the while my path illuming.
3 Let holy charity
Mine outward vesture be,
And lowliness become mine inner clothing;
True lowliness of heart,
Which takes the humbler part,
And o’er its own shortcomings weeps with loathing.
4 And so the yearning strong,
With which the soul will long,
Shall far outpass the power of human telling;
For none can guess its grace,
Till he becomes the place
Wherein the Holy Spirit makes his dwelling.
The Preparation
Pray brothers and sisters, that our sacrifice
may be acceptable to God, the almighty Father.
May the Lord accept the sacrifice at your hands
for the praise and glory of his name
for our good and the good of all his church.
The Prayer over the Gifts
Lord, receive these offerings chosen from your many gifts.
May these mysteries make us holy and lead us to eternal joy. Amen.
The Eucharistic Prayer
The Lord be with you and also with you.
Lift up your hearts. we lift them to the Lord.
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. it is right to give thanks and praise.
It is indeed right, it is our duty and our joy,
at all times and in all places to give you thanks and praise,
holy Father, heavenly King, almighty and eternal God,
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord.
For he is your living Word;
through him you have created all things from the beginning,
and formed us in your own image.
Through him you have freed us from the slavery of sin,
giving him to be born of a woman and to die upon the cross;
you raised him from the dead
and exalted him to your right hand on high.
Through him you have sent upon us
your holy and life-giving Spirit,
and made us a people for your own possession.
The Sanctus and Benedictus
Therefore with angels and archangels,
and with all the company of heaven,
we proclaim your great and glorious name,
for ever praising you and saying:
Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and God of might:
Heaven and earth, Heaven and earth,
are full of your glory, your pow’r and might.
Hosanna, hosanna, hosanna, in the highest heav’ns.
Hosanna, hosanna, hosanna, in the highest heav’ns.
+ Blessed, blessed is he who comes, blessed, blessed is he who comes,
blessed is he, blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna, hosanna, hosanna, in the highest heav’ns.
Hosanna, hosanna, hosanna, in the highest heav’ns.
Accept our praises, heavenly Father, through your Son our Saviour Jesus Christ,
and as we follow his example and obey his command, grant that by the power of your Holy Spirit
these gifts of bread and wine may be to us his body and his blood;
who, in the same night that he was betrayed, took bread and gave you thanks;
he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying:
Take, eat; this is my body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of me.
In the same way, after supper he took the cup and gave you thanks;
he gave it to them, saying:
Drink this, all of you; this is my blood of the new covenant,
which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins.
Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.
Therefore, heavenly Father,
we remember his offering of himself
made once for all upon the cross;
we proclaim his mighty resurrection and glorious ascension;
we look for the coming of your kingdom,
and with this bread and this cup
we make the memorial of Christ your Son our Lord.
‘Great is the mystery of faith’,
Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again.
Accept through him, our great high priest, this our sacrifice of thanks and praise,
and as we eat and drink these holy gifts in the presence of your divine majesty,
renew us by your Spirit, inspire us with your love
and unite us in the body of your Son,
Jesus Christ our Lord.
Through him, and with him, and in him,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
with all who stand before you in earth and heaven,
we worship you, Father almighty,
in songs of everlasting praise:
Amen.

Lord, I am not worthy to receive you,
but only say the word and I shall be healed.
Communion Antiphon:
O, bless the Lord, my soul, and remember all his kindness.
Communion Hymn
374 How sweet the name of Jesus sounds.
John Newton 1725-1807
1 How sweet the name of Jesus sounds
In a believer’s ear!
It soothes his sorrows, heals his wounds,
And drives away his fear.
2 It makes the wounded spirit whole,
And calms the troubled breast;
‘Tis manna to the hungry soul,
And to the weary rest.
3 Dear name! the rock on which I build,
My shield and hiding-place,
My never-failing treasury filled
With boundless stores of grace.
4 Jesus, my Shepherd, Brother, Friend,
My Prophet, Priest, and King,
My Lord, my Way, my Life, my End,
Accept the praise I bring.
5 Weak is the effort of my heart,
And cold my warmest thought;
But when I see thee as thou art,
I’ll praise thee as I ought.
6 Till then I would thy love proclaim
With every fleeting breath;
And may the music of thy name
Refresh my soul in death.
Prayer after Communion
Let us pray :
Holy Father,
who gathered us around the table of your Son
to share this meal with the whole household of God:
in that new world where you reveal
the fullness of your peace,
gather people of every race and language
to share in the eternal banquet
of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
The Blessing
The Lord be with you. And also with you.
Bow your heads and pray for God’s Blessing.
. . . and the blessing of God Almighty,
+ the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit,
be among you and remain with you always.
Amen.
Go in the peace of Christ Thanks be to God.
Recessional Hymn
296 Lord, enthroned in heavenly splendour.
G H Bourne 1840-1925
1 Lord, enthroned in heavenly splendour,
First begotten from the dead,
Thou alone, our strong defender,
Liftest up thy people’s head.
Alleluya, Jesu, true and living Bread!
2 Here our humblest homage pay we;
Here in loving reverence bow;
Here for Faith’s discernment pray we,
Lest we fail to know thee now.
Alleluya, Thou art here, we ask not how.
3 Though the lowliest form doth veil thee
As of old in Bethlehem,
Here as there thy angels hail thee,
Branch and Flower of Jesse’s stem.
Alleluya, We in worship join with them.
4 Pascal Lamb, thine Offering, finished,
Once for all when thou wast slain,
In its fullness undiminished
Shall for evermore remain,
Alleluya, Cleansing souls from every stain.
5 Life-imparting heavenly Manna,
Stricken Rock with streaming side,
Heaven and earth with loud hosanna
Worship thee, the Lamb who died,
Alleluya, Risen, ascended, glorified!
The Angelus

And she conceived by the Holy Spirit.

by the message of an angel, so by his + cross and passion we may
be brought to the glory of his resurrection,
through the same Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

That we may be made worthy of the promises of God.
Let us pray:
We beseech thee, O Lord, to pour thy grace into our hearts;
that, as we have known the Incarnation of thy Son Jesus Christ
by the message of an angel, so by his + cross and passion we may
be brought to the glory of his resurrection,
through the same Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Regina Coeli
Joy to thee, O Queen of Heaven; alleluia
He whom thou wast meet to bear; alleluia
As he promised hath arisen; alleluia
Pour for us to God thy prayer; alleluia
Rejoice and be glad, O Virgin Mary; alleluia
For the Lord is risen indeed; alleluia.
Let us pray;
O God, who by the resurrection of thy Son, our Lord Jesus Christ ,
hast brought joy to the whole world;
grant that through his mother the Virgin Mary
we may obtain the joys of life everlasting.
Through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
The Gloria
Glory to God in the highest,
and peace to His people on earth.
Lord God, heavenly King,
almighty God and Father,
we worship you, we give you thanks,
we praise you for your glory.
Lord Jesus Christ, only Son of the Father,
Lord God, Lamb of God,
you take away the sin of the world:
have mercy on us;
You are seated at the right hand of the Father:
receive our prayer.
For you alone are the Holy One,
you alone are the Lord,
you alone are the Most High,
Jesus Christ,
with the Holy Spirit,
in the glory of God the Father.
Amen.

The Apostles’ Creed
We believe in one God,
the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven,
was incarnate from the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary and was made man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures;
he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and Son is worshipped and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come. Amen.
